8 Steps to Healing ADHD, ADD, Dyslexia, & Dyspraxia

ADD 2

A 2012 report claimed that 6.4 million children ages 4-17 and 237,000 children ages 2-5 were diagnosed with ADHD, and the rate is continually increasing every year. Those figures do not include all of those diagnosed with ADD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and other attention or learning behaviors. While we understand that some of these types of behavioral issues have been around for a while, it is also true that most of these diagnoses are relatively new and broadly applied. The radical climb in numbers of diagnoses in recent years is often claimed to be related to “under-diagnosing” in previous generations. However, we believe there is an unfortunate case of “over-diagnosing” happening in the medical community as well as a lack of understanding of the changes in lifestyle and environment that have negatively affected the health of our children.

In modern medicine the main and often only approach to the treatment of a behavioral disorder is medication. To prescribe medication for a behavioral disorder or any disorder, doctors must always first give a diagnosis. Therefore many of these diagnoses, especially related to behavior, are defined by using broad and ambiguous parameters so that it is easier to lump negative behaviors under the banner of a “treatable” diagnoses. This has resulted in the dramatic increase in diagnoses mentioned before. The drugs prescribed, like most pharmaceuticals, come with an extensive list of known side-effects that will likely have a life-changing impact on a grown adult body, let alone a growing child. This is why it is so important to do your research and take all factors into consideration before agreeing with a diagnosis, even when it's from a doctor.

We believe all children are created uniquely. Not only does each child come with their own personality, talents, and skills; each child will also come with different energy levels, ways they respond to discipline, and learning styles. Due to the changes in our environment, it is no secret that children are being born with congestion and toxicity in their bodies which will also compound the unique expression of each child. This is why a holistic approach is necessary to look at the root causes of imbalance and dis-ease before deciding to medicate a child or an adult with mind-altering drugs.

8-step guide for ADHD, ADD, DYSLEXi, & dyspraxia

This guide is for children and adults who have been diagnosed with ADHD, ADD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, or ones who just need more help with focus, attention, and learning behavior.

1. Get Tested.

Most children with learning or behavioral issues have some level of toxicity causing the problem. These toxins can be from infections (yeast, fungus, mold, candida, parasites, etc.), from chemical toxins (herbicides, plastics, flame retardants, etc.) or heavy metals (aluminum, lead, mercury, etc.) You can check for all of these toxins through urine or hair analysis.

2. Eat whole foods designed by God, not processed foods.

Eliminate most grains (small amounts of ancient grains like quinoa are okay), sugars, dairy, and caffeine from your child's diet. Grains (gluten especially) and sugars both tend to cause allergies in sensitive individuals and stress the adrenals. Even organic, whole, sprouted grains can cause problems in many children, so it would be wise to give them a "grain holiday" and see if their behavior improves. Dairy is a very congesting food, and many people have allergic reactions to dairy products that manifest in behavior issues without even realizing it. Once allergenic foods are eliminated, the gut will start healing which results in better brain function. This will also boost the immune system of the body to fight harmful infections. Throw away the sugary cereals and pop tarts and start giving your children organic eggs, green smoothies, fermented foods, and lots of veggies.

3. Consume Essential Fatty Acids.

4. Get fermented!

Probiotics heal the gut and strengthen digestion. You can start by giving your child the following:

  • Diet:

    • Sauerkraut

    • Kimchi

    • Water kefir

    • Other fermented vegetables

  • Supplements:

    • BIORAY Cytoflora: This product has an incredible track record for helping non-communicative children start talking for the first time or greatly improving speech of children who are struggling!

    • Humarian Probonix Probiotic

5. Sunshine, Fresh Air, Outdoor, & Exercise.

God is waiting to be discovered. We should not be inside watching TV and playing video games. Kids need to release their energy outside and get the health benefits of the sun, dirt (yes, it's critical for good health), and fresh air.

  • Try giving them the antioxidant called Astaxanthin (Bioastin by Nutrex) to help them absorb more sunshine and avoid burns.

6. Boost the Adrenal Glands.

The adrenal glands are a part of the endocrine system that produces a variety of hormones including adrenaline and the steroids, aldosterone and cortisol. If the adrenals are not working properly, you can notice an imbalance in energy levels (both high and low), cloudy thinking, hormonal imbalances, mood swings, anxiety, and more. Many people have used the following formulas to come off harmful ADHD drugs like Adderall, Strattera, and Ritalin.

7. Calm & Relax.

If you or your child has a hard time winding down or turning off their brains at night, here are a few things you might want to try. Turn off all TVs, computers, iPads/iPods, and electronics that have stimulating white light. You can take this a step further by turning down or off all the lights in your home and using only dim lights or candles. Instead of watching TV, tell each other stories, read the Bible or books out loud, or play a board game.

8. Detoxify with BioRay.

This is an amazing company that specializes in detoxification for children and the results are astonishing! For minor issues, we recommend using BIORAY's kids line. However, for more moderate to serious concerns, BIORAY’s professional line would be an excellent choice. These products are PROVEN TO WORK based on testimonials and studies for over 20+ years.

*Children’s line - mild concerns **Professional line - moderate/severe concerns

We know this can seem overwhelming, so we recommend that you begin by implementing some of the major dietary and lifestyle changes first. By cutting out large portions of processed foods from the diet, it is surprising how quickly the body will start to respond. Based on the symptoms and history you can then choose to add in supplements to see what works best for your child. Our children are our future! It is our greatest desire that they would prosper in all that God would have for them. Although the changes can be difficult to implement and sustain in our culture, remember what you are fighting for. You can do it moms and dads! As we stay steady, God will restore a generation the way God designed them to be! If you are interested in setting up a consultation to work with one of our Practitioners, please book a Discovery Call. We would love to work with you and your child!
