What You Didn't Know About Tom Brady
Tom Brady is arguably one of the best quarterbacks in history. He is one of only two players to win five Super Bowls. Brady has been honored with four Super Bowl MVP awards, the most ever by a single player, has won two league MVP awards, has been selected to 13 Pro Bowls, and has led his team to more division titles than any other quarterback in NFL history. Brady has never had a losing season as a starting quarterback in the NFL. His combined regular-season and postseason wins are also the most of any quarterback in NFL history. Brady finished the 2017 regular season as the NFL’s passing yards leader, making him the oldest player to ever lead the league in passing yards. And at the age of 40, he is going back to the Super Bowl again this year.
This is impressive, so when we heard that his eating philosophy is similar to ours, we had to stop and listen. Tom Brady and his wife Gisele Bundchen (who is a model) have a very specific diet that they follow which they have contributed to their overall health and successful careers.
Here are a few of the principles they follow that we love too:
The Brady household eats a plant-based diet of which 80% of what they eat are vegetables.
“I make sure most of what I eat is alkalizing,” -Brady
His chef doesn’t use white sugar, white flour, MSG, iodized salt, nightshades, or dairy.
He avoids coffee and caffeine.
Brady follows general principles about combining food: 1. Don't eat proteins with carbohydrates. 2. Mixing proteins or carbs with vegetables is “ideal” for digestion. 3. Eat fruits alone.
Upon waking, he immediately drinks water with electrolytes.
"I enjoy how I eat, and what I eat, and never feel like I’m missing out" -Brady.
Men's Health said that Tom Brady’s diet is "pretty absurd for the average guy," but we know it works. Tom said "my nutritional regimen may seem restrictive to some people, but to me, it feels unnatural to eat any other way,” and we couldn't agree more. We share with Brady's opinion that food is critical to our overall health and performance. At Spirit of Health, we get our diet philosophy from Genesis where God outlines what he has designed for us to eat. We know you'll see a huge difference by eating a healing plant-based diet and if you don't believe us, just look at one of the best quarterbacks in history.
