5 Ways to Use Herbs Every Day
This past year we made an effort to expand our bulk herb section to offer more high-quality products. Did you know that our bulk herbs range from $.49 per oz to $6.89 per oz and most people only need to take 1-2 teaspoons per day of high-quality herbs to see a difference? This makes an enormous difference to those who are looking to improve their health on a budget.
All of our herbs are from trusted sources, consistent in quality, and free of any synthetics, preservatives, flow agents or GMO ingredients. The herbs we sell are always organic or wildcrafted. We prefer wildcrafted products because the herb, root, flower, leaf, or plant was found and harvested in the wild. Wildcrafted plants are stronger than farm-grown plants; they have withstood the wild elements where the exact minerals and nutrients are required for their growth.
We consistently get the question, "How do we use bulk herbs?" Many people know they can use the Capsule Machine or make tinctures, but most people don't realize there are many other ways to use herbs in everyday life. So here are our favorites.
1. Cooking
Many cultures in the past, and some still in the East, understand that food is medicine. They don't distinguish between the two; they intentionally cook with ingredients they know will provide nutrients, healing, and vitality. In most American diets, we eat only for taste, and ingredients are altered for flavor and to lower cost. Although most of us consume foods that should have healing benefits, like cinnamon or cacao, we aren't getting those benefits because of poor-quality ingredients. This is why we sell only high-quality herbs at Spirit of Health. When we cook, we can create amazing flavors with God's spices and also reap the medicinal benefits.

2. Smoothies
Herbs can be used to enhance the flavor and effectiveness of your smoothies. They are also an excellent way to consume some of those "not so tasty" herbs. We recommend blending approximately 1-2 teaspoons of each herb into your smoothie daily to start seeing a difference.

3. Herbal Tonic
Herbal tonics are typically hot beverages made by steeping herbs in water or another beverage, like nut milk. We recommend using 1-2 teaspoons per herb into 8oz of liquid. Combine the herbs and liquid into a pot and bring to a boil, allow to cool and drink.

4. Tea
Tea has been a popular healing beverage since the beginning of time. However, most of the tea we drink today is very different from the teas consumed in the past. Just like most store-bought spices, the majority of the tea we buy in the grocery store is poor quality and contaminated with pesticides, preservatives, and chemicals. We offer organic and wildcrafted cut herbs, roots, flowers, and leaves to make tasty (and sometimes not so tasty) medicinal tea blends. There are two ways we recommend preparing herbal tea to maximize the benefits. One, soak your tea in water overnight, bring it to a boil the next morning and remove from heat, strain and allow to cool. Two, bring tea to a boil for 15 minutes, remove from heat and allow to steep for 5-7 minutes, then strain and consume.

5. Beauty & Body
Another industry that is dangerously lacking in quality is beauty and body products. Skin is the largest organ of the body, and it absorbs whatever you put on it and passes it through your bloodstream. Skin is also a detoxification pathway. Skin conditions like acne, eczema, rosacea, etc., appear because the body is trying to push out toxic waste. Thankfully, there are many clean options on the market now that you can explore at our store, however here are a few herbs to enhance your beauty regimen.
